The MILANO Stool is an exploration of structure reduced to its most essential form.
Crafted from solid French walnut, the piece is composed of only three elements joined through hand-cut dovetail joints. The construction remains intentionally visible, allowing the method of assembly to become an integral part of the object’s character rather than something concealed beneath it.
Inspired by traditional cabinetmaking, the stool celebrates the precision and permanence of the dovetail joint. Each connection is cut and fitted by hand using traditional woodworking tools, creating a dialogue between craftsmanship, material and proportion.
The design embraces simplicity without sacrificing presence. Broad walnut surfaces, generous thicknesses and carefully balanced proportions give the piece a quiet architectural quality. From a distance it appears almost monolithic, while closer inspection reveals the subtle geometry of the joinery and the natural richness of the timber.
Every element serves both a structural and visual purpose. Nothing is added beyond what is necessary, allowing the construction itself to define the identity of the piece.
