The NEWCHILD Table is conceived as a sculptural dining piece where the natural history of the tree remains visible and intentionally celebrated. Constructed from two mirrored French oak slabs, the table preserves the organic edges of the timber at its center, creating a narrow opening that reveals the original form and growth of the tree from which the wood was sourced.
Rather than concealing these irregularities, the design embraces them. The central gap becomes the defining gesture of the piece — a subtle trace of absence that transforms the table into something between furniture and landscape. Every version is entirely unique: the opening shifts in size, rhythm, and position depending on the character of each individual slab, making no two tables alike.
The exterior perimeter remains clean and architectural, contrasting with the expressive and imperfect inner edge. This balance between precision and raw materiality gives the piece a quiet tension, where craftsmanship and nature coexist without hierarchy.
Supported by two monolithic oak bases, the structure feels grounded and calm despite its large scale. The bases are intentionally minimal, allowing the visual weight and texture of the tabletop to remain central. Their geometry recalls architectural volumes more than conventional table legs, reinforcing the sculptural presence of the piece within a space.
